In 2019, I finished my last year of teaching in the public school setting before embarking on a year long motorcycle journey! I spent my childhood traveling to Greece each summer to see family. Needless to say, I was bit pretty hard by the travel bug. You can check out my adventures under the Travel Blog section.

Athena Silva, M.Ed
Hi! My name is Ms. Athena and I am so excited to begin this tutoring journey with a Traveling Teacher! I too am a teacher who loves traveling; I've explored many places like Greece, Brazil, Portugal, Spain, France, Cape Verde, and the Dominican Republic. These travels have allowed me to practice many languages that I love to speak: Greek, Spanish, and Portuguese. Besides traveling, I adore being home with my two sons, Thomas and Mateos, baking, reading, and playing together.
I have a Masters in Education from Bridgewater State University and am a licensed Elementary Education and ESL teacher, with an endorsement in SEI. I have been teaching in Boston Public Schools for eight years, as a General Education, SEI, and SLIFE teacher with experience in grades three through eight. Previously, I spent time in Brockton Public Schools substitute teaching in a Spanish bilingual program and many various classrooms from Pre-K through eighth grade. My favorite subject to teach is Math and I also enjoy teaching ESL, helping students new to our country get acclimated to our culture and language. There is always so much to learn together!

Joseph Summa
Hi! I am Joseph Summa. I have spent 16 years as an educator. I specialize in Math, Science, Editing, and ACT preparation. I graduated from the top undergraduate engineering school, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, with a degree in Engineering Physics with a concentration in Nanotechnology. I have always loved science and its applications to all facets of life. My chemistry skills are so good that a good friend and professional chef always introduces me as the one person who can engineer my way to better chocolate chip cookies than him. I have always loved playing games in all forms: puzzles, video games, and lately a lot of modern board games. I am even the two-time reigning world champion for Ascension, a modern deckbuilding game.
My personal philosophy is to help students not just to find the right answers but help to develop problem solving skills and the ability to use their resources effectively. This approach to tutoring does more than just prepare a student to take and pass a test, it prepares them to be successful wherever life takes them.

Maria Forero, M.Ed
Hello! My name is Maria Angelica Forero and I am excited to be part of the Traveling Teacher team! I have been an educator for 20+ years. I began my journey as a Montessori teacher for little ones and fell in love with teaching. Therefore, I got my masters in Montessori Elementary education. My bachelor’s degree is in Biology, so when I moved up to teaching middle school and high school, it was a natural progression to teach biology, honors bio, AP biology and Cambridge biology. I did that for about 9 years and now I focus on parent education.
I love to read about philosophy and psychology, but my favorite hobby is traveling. Just this past year, my husband and I traveled to South East Asia and got to see and do beautiful things in Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand!

Mikaela Adams
Hello, hello, hello! My name is Mikaela and I am thrilled to be a part of A Traveling Teacher. I attended the University of Connecticut and graduated with my Bachelor’s in English and a minor in American Sign Language in 2016. While traditional school settings were not the right fit for me, I am passionate about teaching and was a dance instructor for many years at my local YMCA, and tutored high school students in preparation for the SATs.
Currently, I work as a full time estimator for an electrical sub-contractor, but I have not lost my love for learning and relish the opportunity to share that with my students. While I have lived in Texas and New York, and have traveled to places like Ireland, France, and Mexico, my favorite place in the world to visit is Springfield, MA, to see my family. When class is not in session, I love riding horses with Stage Hill Polo Club in Newburyport, MA, and playing French horn in the Cape Cod Concert Band.

Max Kinney
Hi! My name is Max Kinney. I’m fired up to become a part of the team here at A Traveling Teacher! I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. In my time there, I assisted in teaching multiple engineering courses and was also active outside of the classroom as Captain of the Club Lacrosse Team. I teach Spanish and Physics at the high school level and am a volunteer lacrosse coach. I am passionate about math and science because they help us make sense of our world and push the boundaries of what’s possible. As the sign that Ted Lasso hangs in the locker room reads, “BELIEVE.”
When I’m free, I love spending time with family and friends, especially in the Great Outdoors. You’re most likely to catch me riding my bike or skiing on the slopes. I also love to travel and recently returned from an extended trip through Mexico. “De viajar abre su mente” (traveling opens your mind). I look forward to connecting with our students, inspiring them to find their own passions and how to use them for good in the world.
My motto - “Whether we think we can, or we think we can’t, we’re right!”

Throughout my education, I have learned many ways to teach and engage students through a screen. I am so excited to get started with A Traveling Teacher! Nour Douffir
Hello, my name is Nour and I'm very excited to start working with A Traveling Teacher. I graduated top of my class from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science.
I've worked for multiple software companies, and currently work for Dell Technologies as a software engineer, so I have a lot of knowledge about industry standards and good programming practices as well. I also have plenty of experience tutoring and teaching both Computer Science concepts and Mathematics to students with a variety of ages and educational backgrounds.
My teaching style places a big emphasis on hands-on learning, so I always have my students build fun interactive projects that allow them to apply the concepts they learn. This way they can see the result of their hard work in a tangible way. Outside of work, I really enjoy staying active through playing Tennis, Volleyball, and Spikeball. I can't wait to start working with you!

Dallas Keeney, M.Ed
I have been tutoring virtually for over five years and have helped students all over the country increase their grades and confidence in themselves. I have a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a Master’s degree in Biochemistry and Medical Microbiology. I am also a classically trained clarinetist and have performed all over the country. While science is my largest passion, especially medical science, I adore math and use it in my daily life.
The biggest goal I have for every student is to improve their confidence and help them realize that they can do challenging things and that they ARE smart! Every student learns a little differently, especially those who have ADHD or dyslexia/dyscalculia. Having struggled to learn math in school, I know what it is like to feel behind or have anxiety around learning. It wasn’t until a college professor took the time to teach me calculus in a new way that I started to put all the pieces together from math classes in the past, and finally found a love for algebra. These experiences have taught me that there are multiple ways to teach concepts, and each student has different needs. I have experience working with a wide range of students and have learned how to manage my own dyscalculia, allowing me to teach math and science in a way that makes sense to students who are struggling.
When not tutoring, I run a farm animal sanctuary called Diego's Friends Farm Sanctuary in Central Massachusetts with my husband, mom, and daughter. I also enjoy spending time in nature, working outside, and playing video games when I have time.

Michelle Intravaia, M.Ed
Hello! My name is Michelle Intravia, and I have devoted 23 years to teaching—20 years in public schools and the last three as a tutor. I absolutely adore tutoring. Working one-on-one with a child is indeed a gift! As a trained dyslexia practitioner, I've assisted numerous students with reading disabilities in becoming proficient readers.
Additionally, I am a certified ESL teacher and have been instructing English to speakers of other languages since 2007, in both public schools and at the college level. I earned my degree in Elementary/Special Education from Providence College and hold a Master's in ESL from the School for International Training.
Lastly, I am a mother of three young boys; my middle son has Down syndrome. He is truly remarkable, and I mention this because being a parent of a child with special needs has made me a fierce advocate for all children.

Anna Michaelidis, M.Ed
Hello! My name is Anna Michaelidis and I am thrilled to be a part of A Traveling Teacher. I have been in the classroom for eight years; six being a 9th grade English and Composition teacher. I received my Bachelors in Arts in Literature and History with a minor in the Classics from Hellenic College and a Master's in Education from Umass Boston.
I am fortunate to have grown up not only in a neighborhood of Boston, but also in a small town sandwiched between Mount Olympus and the Aegean Sea in Central Macedonia, Greece. I always had a love of learning, which made being in school; whether it was Boston Public, Greek School, or a Private, compelling and enjoyable. From children's and young adult literature to the classics, being submerged in a good book and getting lost in a story was one of my favorite ways to pass time.
Aside from reading, some of my favorite things to do are spending time with my family, traveling, and cooking. I look forward to working with you!

Nate Bresnick
My name is Nate, and I have been a tutor and educator for 10 years. I work with students grades 5-12 in math, sciences, English, history, and Spanish. In my teaching, I strive to meet students where they are, making the most of their strengths and passions. I offer support with learning differences and academic anxiety, and I love helping students gain confidence and self-efficacy.
I will soon graduate from Yale University, where I have studied American Studies and statistics. I took a non-traditional route through college, and I enjoy speaking with students about their goals for the future and how to navigate the college process.
When I’m not teaching, I can be found hiking, climbing, writing, and making video art. I value community and enjoy meeting new people. I have lived on both coasts and traveled throughout Europe and the American West. I love the desert but I also love trees! My favorite trees are Ponderosa pines, which smell like vanilla ice cream and have bark that looks like puzzle pieces.

Jared Rathbun
Hello! I'm Jared Rathbun, I graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science (Software Engineering concentration) from Merrimack College in 2023, where I was at the top of my class. With over three years of experience tutoring in Computer Science and Mathematics, I've developed a deep passion for teaching and helping others succeed.
Currently, I work as a Software Engineer at Dell Technologies, working on products in the Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, and Software Development Tooling realms. This role has given me a solid understanding of current industry standards and strong programming practices, along with experience in leadership (mentoring interns, younger coworkers, etc). While my tutoring experience primarily spans high school and college students, I am excited to help shape the next generation of STEM leaders.
My tutoring approach is hands-on, as I believe the practice makes perfect! I like to break down concepts, sketch out diagrams for problem-solving, and work through solutions together. This approach not only improves programming skills but also develops strong problem-solving abilities and allows one to share their thought process.
Outside of work and tutoring, I enjoy playing guitar, exploring cryptocurrencies, building computers, fishing, riding ATVs, and woodworking. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!

Liam O'Rourke
Hello, my name is Liam O'Rourke. My educational journey began with humble roots. Having barely graduated high school and with parents who never attended college, I discovered my passion for education later in life. Starting from ground zero at a community college—where I eventually became a tutor—I worked my way up to graduate summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy.
Along the way, I gained additional education in various subjects, including English Composition, Sociology, Statistics, and even introductory college-level Biology and History. I currently tutor these subjects, in addition to working at a traveling teacher as a pure Psychology tutor.
Learning is something we all know how to do, and, much like drinking water or eating properly, success often comes down to changing our habits.
I live in Colorado and am an avid exerciser. I own nearly one thousand books and spend much of my free time wrinkling my forehead pretentiously in my basement, playing dress-up as a philosopher. I aspire to earn a PhD in Psychology and am currently on track to complete a master’s degree.
