I Have To Be Honest…

I have to be honest with everyone, the math portion of my business means very little to me. This may sound quite crazy coming from a math teacher. I say this openly to share something with you.

Math is a language just like any other. There are certain ways in which we can figure out people and the world around us by using this language, and I happily teach that. It is not, however, my main goal.

Math is a medium for me to create a meaningful teacher-student relationship with those I offer my services to. Whether it is 1-1 tutoring, homeschooling, test preparation or group classes; I use my 8 years teaching experience to get through to each and every student in the most tailored way possible for each of them.

Life for everyone has become very busy, and everyone is looking for one thing: to be heard and understood. Getting students excited about math is my way of listening to my students on a deep level. By asking questions rather than lecturing, I hear where each student may have a gap in their understanding, and backtrack to that exact point before moving forward. This two steps forward, one step back philosophy brings smiles to students’ faces because they are being heard.

Their confidence increases almost immediately, and this is the start of students realizing their math goals are truly attainable. And yet, this is still not my number one priority.

My biggest passion in life is making those around me feel happy. Helping them untangle the wires in their brains that make them anxious; organizing these wires into strands so they become more manageable. When the cloud of tangled wires that is mathematics becomes more organized, students start to feel happier in their everyday lives.

We all know when something is bothering us, it bleeds into other parts of our lives. We become generally more anxious and frustrated, and it can become a lens in which we see the world. And yet, when we see the light at the end of the tunnel, we start to enjoy life just a little bit more. We start to relax into things we were tense about, and that right there is my main mission as A Traveling Teacher.

Now, I say math means very little to me, and that sounds crazy coming from a math teacher. There is a reason I am sharing this with you today. Go to my website, www.atravelingteacher.com , and check out some reviews. These reviews are from parents who saw the light at the end of the tunnel when it came to their student’s academic goals.

If what I’m telling you today is true, and the math is but a small spec of why I am really in the educational space, imagine just how much I care about seeing my students smile and become more confident in themselves.

I would love to discuss the strengths, needs, and goals you have for your child in a Free 15 minute tutoring consultation.
